With their self titled album released on July, 18th 2006, southern rockers Black Stone Cherry from Edmonton, Kentucky - made one of the best debut rock albums I’ve heard. They got labelled with “influences including Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Black Sabbath, but also a heavy side touching more in a Black Label Society vein.” and with such a tag I had to check them out. And WoW did they deliver.

Combining crunching riffs, dynamic drums, gritty, raw vocals Black Stone Cherry blew me away.

Chris Robertson (vocals, guitars, slide guitar); Ben Wells (guitars, electric sitar, background vocals); Jon Lawhon (electric bass, background vocals); John Fred Young (drums, percussion, background vocals).

Standout tracks are difficult to pick out since there is not a single bad track on this album. If I had to pick 3 songs it would be – Violator Girl, Lonely Train & Drive
.. or Rain Wizard or Shape Of Things… and so I could go on and on.

Simply put, A stunning debut album which is strongly recommended.
